Pieces of a Sequence
Chris Stroffolino

29.

Sometimes we have to touch without looking
To be able to look without touching.
Glad we did both today,
Glad you let me play more songs last night
Before luring me to touch
For I don't think there's a place beyond sex
I want to be with you
But I would like to flesh the music out
Without it turning into "the opposite of sex."
Sure sex could get in the way of musical collaboration
But I don't know if the songs were strong enough
To cut through the fog of the way I was
Repressing my sexual self with you.
All I know is I want you for your music as much as your body
For your ear as much as your mouth
For the sun as much as that which clouds it
(though maybe I wouldn't say this were it cloudy)
